The original debuted in 1937 and starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. The most popular of the remakes came in 1976. It starred Barbra Streisand alongside Kris Kristofferson.
The producers of the Streisand version, Billy Gerber and Jon Peters, are also said to be producing the current remake. The film is being headed by Warner Bros. At present, they're still searching for the right leading male, but names being mentioned are Will Smith, Robert Downey, Jr. and Jon Hamm. The original film's plot was about an aspiring actress who falls in love with a troubled movie star, who helps her get her big break. It is also being reported that this version will be an all out musical production.
