Summer Movie Rewind: Gabrielle Union's "Being Mary Jane"...She's Every Successful Girl's Girl!!!

Relive a perfect summer movie, Gabrielle Union's "Being Mary Jane".

I just love this movie and the character Mary Jane---she's a character so many women will identify with; trying to balance love, independence and a successful career isn't easy, and many women, like Mary Jane struggle with the balance and finding that happy medium, and the one to share your life with.

The movie has been turned into a series that BET will air in 2014.  I can't wait.

Watch the entire movie and Catch up on Ms. Mary Jane below.

She Came, She Saw, She Conquered: Beyoncé Brings Out Jay Z, Shuts Down Barclays Center & Wraps 1st Leg of U.S. Mrs. Carter Show..

Mrs. Carter ended the first leg of the North American trek of The Mrs. Carter Show last night, in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.  I had the pleasure of seeing B on Saturday at Barclays and she was incredible.  One giant ball of energy.  I never get tired of partying with B at one of her concerts.  She was simply incredible.

Last night she wrapped with a three day Barclay stint.  And she treated the Brooklyn crowd to a special treat--Mr. Carter was the special guest.  (Why not on the 3rd Jay, why!!!)  Jay performed his "Magna Carta" hit "Tom Ford" with B performing her vocals at the end.  She also did a snippet of "Bow Down" ---how luck was that crowd.

B uploaded photos from the night on her Tumblr.  Check out the performance and some photos of BK's Barclay Stint below.   B will be back in Brooklyn on December 19 (I've got tickets for that one too) and December 22, don't miss the party or the experience.

Video Fresh: JAY Z “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film”+ Jay Chats With Bill Maher

Friday Jay appeared on HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher--where he talked about politics, income inequality and the pressures of unemployment in Black and Urban communities.  Jay also had a debate with Barney Frank over Stop-And-Frisk and the need for more jobs -vs- more police.   He also addressed the Harry Belafonte issue and much more.

Directly after the Bill Maher appearance was the debut of JAY Z “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film”.  Jay gathered together the art & music worlds for the performance piece--performance artist Marina Abramovic, Alan Cumming, Taraji P. Henson, Fab Five Freddy, Judd Apatow, some of the cast of "Girls", Wale, fashion designer Cynthia Rowley and Rosie Perez.

Bravo...Jay for once again, treating us to art and expanding Hip-Hop.

Kelly Rowland...Essence Cover Girl: Covers September Fall Style Issue

Kelly's had a pretty good year.  She has a hot album, with two R&B hits:  Kisses Down Low and Dirty Laundry.  And another R&B hit with Fantasia & Missy, With Out Me.  She's got X Factor and Jaguar gigs and now she's got Essence.  She'll grace the coveted Fall Style issue.

 Check out a preview below:
ESSENCE’s September 2013 cover star used to be nervous about sharing her real feelings “’cause I didn’t want anybody to judge me. But now I don’t care,” she says. “Judge me if you want to. And as a matter of fact, it won’t even count, ‘cause the only person who can judge is God.”
“For a long time I wasn’t happy, but that had nothing to do with Beyoncé,” Rowland says. “That had to do with me trying to get my life in order and make better decisions for myself. I’m seeing all these wonderful things happen for her and I am happy for her. But I want a path. I want things to pop off for me, too. Not on her level but whatever my level is supposed to be.”
Through workouts with trainer Jeanette Jenkins and sparring sessions with former boxer Martin Snow, she’s finding her power. “I see the beauty in boxing,” she says. “It teaches me strength, physically but mostly mentally. I had to learn my strength, because for so long I could have been tougher than I was.”  (Source:  Essence)
The revealing interview and photo spread hits newsstands August 9.  Be sure to pick up your copy.
