This was one historic weekend! First Saturday marked the 47 year anniversary of Dr.King's (August 28th) I Have A Dream Speech. A speech that helped to transform America. An America where equality in the American Dream could be achieved for all regardless of race, gender or religion. It's an America that we continue to strive for. But I am sure that Dr. King would be more than proud of where America is today.
On Saturday, Rev Sharpton held a march/rally in DC. The march ended at the site of MLK's future memorial. Many attended and spoke of the Dream and his (MLK)social message/policies and the need for us to continue to stay focused.
Sunday August 29th, marked the five year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans continues to make progress, but has a long way to go. They are a city whose undying spirit continues to flourish. CNN, MSNBC, NBC & TVone all had specials dedicated to the five year anniversary.
Also on Sunday, we celebrated the King of Pop's Birthday he would have been 52 years old. His fans all over the world celebrated for their beloved king.
