King Hov: Jay-Z Celeberates Grand Opening of 40/40 in Barclays Center

Last night Jay celeberated the grand opening of the 40/40 Club in the Barclays Center. Jay spoke with MTV about the grand opening: "A guy stopped me in the hallway and said, 'Man this is a great thing for New York City.' And that's what the whole thing was about."

The party was attended by a host of celebs including Jay'z Roc Nation family Rihanna and J. Cole. Also in attendance was Nets head coach Avery Johnson and his wife, along with Olympic gold medalist and face of the Nets, Deron Williams and his wife. I'm hoping for big things from him and the Nets this season. Sweet!!!

Jay was snapped leaving his penthouse in TriBeca, Thursday afternoon for rehearsal at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The first of Jay's eight sold out shows begins tonight. Another history maker for Hov.

He looks like he's in fighting form, it's gonna be eight shows for the history books.

Queen B: Beyoncé is Set to Perform At Alicia Keys' Black Ball

B continues to show her humanitarian ways. She just hosted a fundraiser with Jay for the President, which raised $4 million for the President's reelection campaign. And now it's been confirmed that she'll be performing, for the first time, at Alicia Keys' annual Black Ball. The Black Ball is a fundraiser for Alicia's Keep A Child Alive.

The ball will be held on Nov. 1 at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. The night will honor Winfrey and Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo for their philanthropic efforts. Alicia, Kidjo and rock group Alabama Shakes will also perform. While Whoopi will be the night's emcee.

B News: Beyoncé's "Dance For You" Dances Into R&B Top 10... Gives B More Bragging Rights

Beyoncé's, "4" has notched it's fourth R&B Hip Hop Top 10. "Dance For You" rises 13-10. It is the 6th track off "4"  to hit the R&B Hip Hop Charts following "Run the World (Girls)" (No. 30), "Best Thing I Never Had" (No. 4), "Party" (No. 2), "Countdown" (No. 12) and "Love On Top" (No. 1)."

It marks the third time Bey' has claimed a quartet of top 10s from a single album. Her debut set "Dangerously In Love" and its follow-up, "B'Day," both notched four top 10s.

The track also gives B her 19th top 10 on the chart as a solo artist, extending her lead for the most top 10s among female artists since 2000.

And on the Mainstream R& B/Hip-Hop airplay chart, "Dance For You" marks her fifth top 10 -- the first time she's claimed five top 10s on that tally from one album.

Solange has been working on her new music for a while and now the world finally gets a chance to hear what she's been up to.

Last month she was snapped shooting a video. And now there's a preview of her new video, "Losing You". The single will be available digitally 10/2.

POTUS in The City: President Obama Dines with The Carters in NYC + Stops By Letterman.... Dines with Jay-Z & Beyoncé in Chelsea for Fundraiser

President Obama made the most of his NYC stay. He landed in the city Tuesday afternoon. He visited with Letterman and talked politics and future. He of course addressed the Mitt Romney 47% gaffe.

We have come a long way since 2008, a long way!

The POTUS then headed to Jay's 40/40 Club in Chelsea, where Jay and B hosted a $40,000 a plate fundraiser. I luv it. Hip Hop's First Family and America's First Family, together again (well sort of the FLOTUS and the girls weren't there). Jay and B raised $4 million for the POTUS!!!

Romney Unmasked: Mitt Romney Reveals True Self... FINALLY!!!

Mother Jones has released video of Mitt Romney revealing his true self, finally!! In a room full of wealthy donors he calls "47% of Americans dependent on government." I find this ironic coming from a man who gets annual government handouts via his tax breaks and all the cooperate cutbacks he gets from our government. Hmm... and he pays no taxes.

I say Mr. Romney benefits well from government handouts. And his views on Israel and the Middle East, just backwards. Watch more videos below.

Hov attended the Duracell Powermat "Power of Social" Event in NYC Thursday night. This Tuesday (09/25/12) he and B will be hosting a fundraiser for the President at, the 40/40.

New York Fashion Week is in full swing. And while B was off on her royal holiday with Jay & Blue, she didn't miss a fashion beat. Her cousin and stylist Ty Hunter has been taking in the shows in search of the perfect looks for his "girl".

Ty spoke to New York's Newsday about the shows and about finding new looks for B's spring wardrobe. He was particularly fond of the Tracy Reese, Victoria Beckham and Rachel Roy Shows:

"Tracy Reese, Victoria Beckham, Rachel Roy and I loved Herve Leger,” he said “It was so different and so beautiful.”

Ty also talked about how he finds the right look for the Queen:

“It’s mainly about the fit,” says Hunter, who sometimes calls Beyoncé after a really good show. And, he said laughing, “It’s usually the finale gown that’s best.”

Jay-Z & Beyoncé have joined forces (again) with President Obama. The power couple will be hosting a fundraiser for the POTUS at Jay's 40/40 Club in NYC next Tuesday, September 18. The POTUS will be attendance. One hundred people will attend the $40,000 per guest event.

Remembering 9/11: President Obama & First Lady Michelle Obama Observe a Moment of Silence

Today marked the 11 year anniversary of 9/11. I will never forget that day! It was a day of great sadness and great strength for my city -NYC- and my country! Today President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama marked the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by observing a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House.

The President and First Lady then went to the Pentagon, where the President spoke at the Pentagon Memorial Service. Watch both videos below.

Jay flew to London to perform at Sunday's closing ceremonies for the Paralympics. Jay performed "Run This Town" with Rihanna and Coldplay on band. Sweet!

President Obama was lifted off his feet today, literally, while he was on a campaign stop in Fort Pierce, Florida. A pizza shop owner -who is a republican and voted for the President in 2008 and plans to vote for the POTUS again in November- was so ecstatic to see the President in his pizza shop, that he gave him a big hug, lifting the POTUS off his feet. We love our President!!!!

VMA Glory: Alicia Keys & Gabrielle Douglas Were Girls on Fire, Frank Ocean Makes Triumphant Debut, Rihanna Gets "Cocky" With ASAP Rocky & The Fab Five Go Fierce & More.....

Stars graced the red carpet and the stage at this year's MTV VMAs hosted by Kevin Hart -in Los Angeles, California, Thursday, 09/06/12 -who was pretty funny. He touched on everything from the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal, to the Chris Brown/Drake fight and Frank Ocean's bisexual revelation.

The night was jammed packed with awards and performances. Alicia Keys performed "Girl On Fire" for the first time. Alicia was joined on stage by Gabrielle Douglas and Nicki Minaj. Mrs. Beatz put on one soulful performance, as her hubby Swizz and son Egypt, cheered her on. Her vocals were in top form. Gabby, who is a girl on fire, came out during the performance for a short routine. And Nicki performed her "Girl on Fire" verse. Sweet.

Frank Ocean made his triumphant debut on the VMA stage with a very sexy and soulful performance of his single, "Thinkin Bout You". Frank's voice was stellar. What a future he's going to have. Be sure to pick up a copy of his debut album, "Channel Orange".

Jay joined Big Sean and Kanye West for the track "Clique" which boasts the three MCs extravagant lifestyles and "cliques".

And ya' boy Hov killed his verse, talking big money and big things. Flex premiered the song on Hot 97, to an array of bombs, Thursday night, September 6 & Mister Cee finished off on Friday night.

King of The Times: Jay-Z Talks Blue, Hip Hop and More in NY Times Magazine

The New York Times Magazine recently sat down with Jay for a very candid interview. The interview titled, The House That Hova Built, takes a look into the glamorous world of Shawn Carter. My how far this Marcy boy has come.

Jay talks openly about B, Blue and gifts and curses of his celebrity. He also talks big business, politics, Trayvon Martin and much more.

The interview took place over an Italian lunch on Mulberry Street in NYC. And reads like an intimate conversation between two old friends. Check out excerpts from the interview below.

The beautiful Gabrielle Douglas was at this week's Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC. She lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. Completely fitting for the double Olympic gold medalists. If anyone knows how to represent her country it's Gabby.

What a difference a week makes!!! The DEMS Kicked Political Butt at this week's Democratic National Convention in Charolette, North Carolina. The Convention kicked off with a welcoming festival that got everyone Fired Up! and Ready To Go!!!

The first night, September 4, was full of rousing speeches that talked Unity, Equality and Forward vision. The stars of the night were Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick, San Antonio mayor, Julian Castro and our beautiful, First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama's speech was heart wrenching, patriotic and family focused. By the time she was finished there wasn't a dry eye in the house. She was incredible and not to mention completely stunning.

The White House sent out a photo of, a proud President Obama, Malia and Sasha, watching the FLOTUS, on television in the Treaty Room of the White House, during her DNC speech. Check out all three speeches below.

Night one set the tone for what would be a rousing convention.

The night two stars were Elizabeth Warren and former President Bill Clinton who so eloquently laid out all of President Obama's accomplishments. The former president was in vintage political form and held no punches. His loyalty to Barack was evident and it was clear that he is all in for the fight ahead. The speech ended with the two Presidents embracing, as Barack surprised the crowd with an appearance at the end of Bill's speech. Their embrace was hearty and sent the already Fired Up! crowd into a frenzy. It was a wonderful sight.

The stars of night three were John Kerry, Joe Biden and of course President Obama, whose star shined the brightest. The three put a whopping on the Republicans that they'll be trying to recover from, from now til November.

The President called out Romney and Ryan for their policies that are even more destructive to the economy than the Bush policies were. He talked his accomplishments. Yes we are better off than we were, four years ago, I think everyone knows that! Just think back, to where we were!

He also laid out his Forward Vision and completely distanced himself from the Romney/Ryan Agenda that benefits the wealthy.

The president brought tears to my eyes during his speech when he said, "I am the president." I just lost it. I can't explain what it did to me, it just meant so much to me on so many levels, especially being an African American woman. It was such a powerful moment. Jay made sure his wife had a grand 31st B'Day. He, B and Blue spent the week in the South of France yachting in the Mediterranean Sea. The couple with their precious baby Blue (8 months) were the perfect picture of Love & Happiness.

The happy couple were snapped dining at Michaelangelo in Cap d'Antibes, France on B's birthday, September 4. They were also snapped taking in the night, lunching and kissing at a beach club in St. Tropez, jet skiing and snapping pics of each other on their yacht.

But the true star of this trip was Blue Ivy Carter. She was the center of her Mommy and Daddy's world. Jay just couldn't get enough of his baby girl. He was even trying to teach her to walk. And Mommy B, was of course, just couldn't stop gushing over her precious princess.

Today is B's 31st birthday. And my how things have changed since her last B'Day.

It's her first "official" birthday as a new mommy (last year she was pregnant with little Blue). And at 31 B looks happier than she's ever been. She's simply radiant.

B spent her pre-birthday weekend in Philly with her hubby, Jay, at his Made in America Music Festival. They were the picture of love and happiness.

In The Know: Craig Robinson Remembers The Speech That Started it All...President Obama's Keynote Address at the 2004 DNC...

Clearly one of the best speeches ever. I still see this man, when I see our POTUS today. He has remained positive and humble even when faced with the greatest of adversaries. No matter what has been thrown at him, he continues to fight. And yes we are much better off than we were four years ago!!!

People need to remember back to the scariness that was 2008 when we were on the verge of a Depression. Are we completely out of the woods?

The press was in attendance today in North Carolina as First Lady Michelle Obama checked out the stage and prepped for her DNC|2012 convention speech. The FLOTUS was both glowing and stunning as usual. I can't wait to hear her speech tomorrow night during the DNC's prime time coverage.

Tune into MSNBC, CNN, NBC or and of your local networks for coverage. I'm sure our FLOTUS will set the tone for a forward moving convention. Unlike last week's Lewis Carroll fantasy based convention.

Chris Matthews has been a staunch supporter of President Obama. He has praised the President when needed, offered constructive criticism when called for and he has been one of the President's biggest fighters and fact checkers.

Get Ready!!! Be In The Know!!! The Demoratic National Convention kicks off in Charlotte, North Carolina tomorrow night, September 4!!!

Finally!!! After last week's Political Insanity, known as the Republican National Convention, which played out like a scene written by Lewis Carroll during one of his tripper episodes --Political Sanity will be restored when the Democrats take the stage this week for their national convention. And I can't wait.

Jay-Z, who served as the curator of the, Budweiser Made in America Festival, had a very successful weekend in Philly. Jay announced, during his headlining set on Saturday, that this was "the first annual Made In America Festival." So it looks like Philly will be getting Hov's fest again next year.

Jay closed out Day 1 of the festival, Saturday night (9/1). After a day that saw Maybach Music Group, Mike Snow, D'Angelo, Skrillex, Janelle Monae, Passion Pit and more, grace the Freedom Tent, Liberty Stage and Rocky Stage (main stage).

Jay hit the The Rocky Stage at 9:30 PM. The concert streamed live on YouTube and Pandora. Hov walked, or should I say glided onto the stage, because that's how cool he was, to his and Kanye's, "Made In America" playing in the background, his stature grand and his swagger godly --and the rousing applause of the festival crowd, help set the tone for the night. He went into fan favorite "PSA" which, was interrupted by our POTUS, Barack Obama, who gave his own PSA (urging all to vote in November) a brilliant segue. (Watch the video after the jump.)

The set was jam packed with Hova hits. He played for the masses: "99 Problems", "Run This Town", "Big Pimpin", "Empire State of Mind".

He played for his Loyalists: "Where I'm From", "Jigga What, Jigga Who", "You Don't Know".
