Kyla, Aly, McKayla, Jordyn & Gabby |
All five young ladies had standout performances. Gabby was the only girl on the team who performed in all four events, meaning her scores made up 33% of the team's total!!! And she didn't let her team or country down.
She was a solid performer in all four events. She was a powerhouse on vault. She soared on bars --flying high above the bars. She was focused and "on" during beam. And she aced her floor routine. Sweet!!!
McKayla's vault was incredible. She, Gabby and Jordyn all competed the Yurchenko two-and-a-half, also known as an Amanar vault --and she was just perfect!!! Her vault will become the new standard for vaulting. She soared high above the vault, with the grace of a ballerina and stuck the landing. It was unbelievable.
McKayla's vault earned a score of 16.233 a 16.500 would have been the equivalent of a modern day 10. It was beautiful.
Another beautiful night for Jordyn. She also began the team's final rotation, floor. Her floor routine was powerful and once again, set the tone for the team, taking home the gold.
Kyla was just beautiful to watch. Her lines were incredible. She gave her team a solid beam and bar routine. She was poised and had the grace of a champion. It was like she had been on the Olympic stage her whole life.
